French brand with iconic crocodile in emblem bears the name of its founder, successful tennis player René Lacoste since 1933. For his personal use, he created a line of airy cotton polo shirts with an embroidered crocodile (which was his nickname). The first polo shirt was a colour typical of tennis players - white. After his sporting career ended, he created a clothing brand with the revolutionary white polo shirt as the central part of the range. Other stylish sportswear for sailing and golf didn't wait long either.
